First Family Camping Trip

We finally got to go on our first family camping trip! We have been waiting so long to do so and got to go during Devin's fall break, October 10th. It was a perfect fall day and so beautiful, there were no bugs and we could actually enjoy a warm fire in the evening and the morning. While gathering everything we needed for the trip we realized we needed so much stuff and just for one night! The kids were so excited to go sleep in a tent and have a fire to roast marshmallows over or throw into. We went to Hitchcock in Cresent Iowa about 15 minutes from our house. We were the only ones there and it was perfect, in the picture below we camped just at the bottom of the hill. It was a successful trip and wish we could have done it again this year.
The kids were so excited to get the tent set up and loved having the whole outdoors to themselves.
Our campsite.

This boy couldn't be happier! It he could he would camp everyday of the year. The funny thing is that he slept the worst in the tent, but he loved everything else!
Home sweet Home for the night.

The wood was not very comfy for Molly.

She loved laying in the tent and kept going in and out.

When we didn't see her in the tent she was sitting in the tall grass playing and loving the freedom of the outdoors!

The typical camping dinner, hot dogs. We also of course had smores and foil baked apples. We had hopes to make a dutch oven dinner or bring our fryer and make some fun funnel cakes or churros but we laked the ambition the closer our trip came. We were glad we didn't do it once we got there so we didn't have to haul it down and back up the hill.

We loved sitting around the fire and Mack did a great job throwing the wood on whenever the flames got low.

Of course George had to come along, good thing he has a flashlight!

Our little camping Jane Bear. She was an awesome first time camper. She slept in her car seat and only woke up once during the night.

Our attempt to take a family picture ourselves, they are pretty candid and funny. Mack was not up for it and Jane was wondering why he wasn't. Molly of course is in her own little world!

I think this was the best attempt.

We love this sweet girl.

The 3 cutest campers all set with the hats, chairs and ready for a fire.

She had to bring her elephant and bug pillow along with her blankey and she couldn't have been happier.

Love these camping sisters
Morning! Jane and Dad sitting by the fire.

Mack in his camping pj's. When he got up at 6am to go to the bathroom, which he loves to do outside, Devin was shining the flashlight on him as it was still dark and there was a raccoon standing there watching him, true camping.
This little girl slept through the whole night and was excited as she woke up and was still outside and got to have donuts and blueberry bread for breakfast. After Mack was done with him she overtook his donut and had a whole smorgishborg going on , she couldn't have been happier.
Janey is ready to do it again. We love spending time together as a family away from all of the distractions and can't wait to do it more often. We are so glad that we have kids that are easy to take camping.
